Brooklyn, New York – October 2025 – The organization “Albanian Women in USA” successfully marked the fifth year of its annual event as part of the international Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Pink October.
The event took place in a warm and inspiring atmosphere in the heart of Brooklyn, where dozens of Albanian women from Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, and Connecticut came together for a shared purpose: health, support, and women’s empowerment.
In recognition of the organization’s tireless work, New York State Senator Mr. Steve Chan and Mrs. Svetlana Zelinskaya, Vice Chair of the Republican Party for Brooklyn and Leader of the 46th District, honored Albanian Women in USA with an appreciation award for its continuous contribution to the Albanian community and to women’s empowerment in the United States.
A Day Filled with Love, Solidarity, and Hope
The color pink – a symbol of hope and strength – dominated every detail of the event, from the elegant decorations to the tables filled with homemade dishes prepared by the participating women, to the smiles and hugs that spread warmth in every corner of the park.
Children played together while women shared emotions, memories, and words of encouragement with one another.
The event opened with inspiring speeches by Dr. Ada Biço and Psychologist Fabiola, who spoke about the importance of early detection, caring for both mental and physical health, and the impact that community support has on the healing process.
“Early detection saves lives. Taking care of yourself is an act of responsibility and love for your family,” emphasized Dr. Biço.
Psychologist Fabiola added, “Healing begins with acceptance, love, and solidarity among us.”
Voices, Stories, and Sincere Emotions
Participants shared touching stories about facing breast cancer – stories of pain, loss, but also of courage and hope. These testimonies became an inspiration for many women attending for the first time, demonstrating the power of unity and mutual support.
The atmosphere was further enriched with music, children’s games, symbolic giveaways, and moments of community joy, turning the day into a celebration of life and self-love.
A Moment of Pride for the Albanian Community
At the end of the event, Senator Chan congratulated the organization for its important role:
“Albanian Women in USA is an inspiring example of leadership and female solidarity. They are building strong bridges of cooperation within our community.”
Meanwhile, Mrs. Svetlana Zelinskaya emphasized the importance of recognizing the work of Albanian women who “not only take care of their families but also contribute to strengthening our shared community.”
Gratitude to Partners and Community Media
The event was carefully documented by photographer Mrs. Elsa Dautaj, who captured every emotion with professionalism, and by Mr. Gjergji Kovaci, President of USALB TV, who supported the event with dedicated media coverage, helping promote community activities of Albanians across the United States
